Selecting elements is easy. Users, projects, hosts, actions, data sources, events can all be selected from various locations in the application, using a special Select: window. Throughout the application when a particular element needs to be selected a corresponding Select window will appear. For example if you choose to Assign host from the right-click menu a Select Host: window appears from which you can make your selection. The top portion of the Select window lists elements from which you can make a selection, or you have the choice of performing a search:
To select from the current list: Click on the item required in the list and press Select to confirm. The chosen item will be returned to the management console.
To search for an element: Type an entry in the search field at the bottom of the screen and press Search. The system searches through the configuration database to match your entry and displays any matching elements in the Search window. The Select window allows searching by partial matching, i.e. you can enter just part of a name to have the system identify matches with your entry.
For advanced searching, use the in-built Search facility that can be accessed from any location in the management console, either from the toolbar or the Tools menu.
