The very domestic
account of Martha and Mary, at the heart of Luke's gospel, is
probably the most familiar of all. The long tradition of seeing
it as distinguishing the contemplative from the active way of
life has obscured how universally this surely factual contact
with Jesus can reflect on our personal lives.
